DIP-Swing does not take custody of your brokerage assets. Brokerage accounts used with DIP-Swing are maintained with Alpaca Securities LLC — not with DIP-Swing.
DIP-Swing provides the trading strategy, scanner, software, and automation. Alpaca Securities LLC provides the brokerage account, order execution, and custody. Your brokerage funds and securities remain in your Alpaca brokerage account at all times; DIP-Swing's software interacts with that account only through authorized API access for trading.
Alpaca Securities LLC is a U.S. broker-dealer registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is a member of FINRA. Its FINRA CRD number is 288202 and its SEC number is 8-69928.
Customers can independently verify the firm's registration and regulatory information through FINRA BrokerCheck.
Verify Alpaca on FINRA BrokerCheck →Alpaca Securities LLC is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).
SIPC protection generally covers up to $500,000 per customer, including a $250,000 limit for cash, if securities or cash are missing following the failure of a SIPC-member brokerage firm, subject to SIPC rules and eligibility.
SIPC protection does not protect against investment losses, declines in market value, or losses resulting from a trading strategy, and does not guarantee investment performance.
Learn About SIPC Protection →DIP-Swing connects to Alpaca through its Trading API to submit and manage trades and access the account information required for trading. According to Alpaca, direct Trading API credentials cannot initiate ACH bank deposits or request wire withdrawals — general bank funding remains within Alpaca's own web dashboard and requires multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Learn more about Alpaca API security →Alpaca states that it maintains excess SIPC coverage through Lloyd's of London in addition to standard SIPC protection. This additional coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, eligibility requirements, and aggregate limits of the applicable policy.
For current coverage details, customers should refer directly to Alpaca's disclosures.
Alpaca Customer Asset Protection →Alpaca Securities operates as a self-clearing broker-dealer. Alpaca states that customer securities are held at Alpaca Securities LLC and that it participates in the U.S. securities clearing and settlement infrastructure, including DTC/DTCC.
Alpaca — Where Customer Securities Are Held →DIP-Swing is designed around programmatic and automated trading. Alpaca provides brokerage APIs that allow authorized software applications to interact with brokerage accounts and submit orders.
Alpaca's Form CRS specifically discusses customers placing orders through Alpaca's API, including through customer-created trading algorithms.
Alpaca Form CRS →Brokerage protection is not investment protection. Securities investments involve risk and may lose value. SIPC protection does not protect against market losses or losses resulting from investment decisions or trading strategies. DIP-Swing does not represent that SIPC membership, regulatory registration, or any other brokerage protection guarantees investment performance or prevents trading losses.
